Event Description:
Ready for a mini-vacation to Hawai`i? Join us for our second annual May Day Concert and Arts and Crafts Festival. "May Day is Lei Day" in Hawai`i, so come enjoy a full day of live Hawaiian music and hula performances by a variety of Pacific Northwest groups from 11:00AM-5:00PM. Then from 5-7:00PM Kaloku Holt, the 2005 winner of the Hapa Haole Hula Competition-Vocal Division, will appear in concert with his brother Keawe, ukulele sensation extraordinaire. Browse dozens of vendors, enjoy Hawaiian plate lunch and shave ice, enter the lei-making contest (Northwest plants and flowers only). Only $5.00 admission for this entire day of fun and entertainment Hawaiian-style supports the Ho`ike and Hawaiian Festival in July at Esther Short Park, Vancouver, WA, which is free to the public.

Our goal is to foster and preserve the Hawaiian/Polynesian culture and share it with the community. Our Ho`ike and Hawaiian Festival in July attracts thousands of people who enjoy a full day of Hawaiian/Polynesian culture as shared through music, dance, and food. This event in May will also allow us to share our culture, and at the same time provide financial support for the event in July.
